Hands, wrists, arms and elbows

Reaching out, taking in, holding, creating, tending, preparing, cooking, transporting, massaging, stroking…

We use our hands, wrists, elbows and arms from the moment we wake up, until we go to sleep.

Our hands alone are an astonishing act of engineering consisting of twenty seven bones.

The wrists accounts for eight, the palm contains five and the fingers have fourteen bones as a base.

Our elbow is a hinged joint made up of three bones.

Our arm consists of two bones in our forearms and a single bone in the upper arms.

In class today, we will explore strength and slide and glide in the joints and muscles between this incredible bone-structure.

Since I am a body worker, I know from first experience how I need to care of my hands, wrists and arms ( otherwise I will feel stiff or am in pain..)

Tips:

-Take vitamin D to strengthen your bones.

-Use an anti-inflammatory, like turmeric to decrease redness or burning sensations.

-Eat low-acidic food like: fresh vegetables, blue berries, nuts and high fiber grains.

-Keep a consistent exercise routine, like Yoga, to strengthen the muscles.

-Rest

In class we will slowly build our strength with arm balances and finger exercises. Mixed up with different stretches with our hands and wrists.

Please bring a TENNIS BALL to class.

Much love,

Marielle
