In Yoga we address the 5 elements: ether, air, fire, water and earth.
The 4th element, water is called “apas” in Sanskrit.
It is connected with the second energy wheel ( Chakra ) “Svadhisthana” and it is located in our pelvis.
This element is connected with our emotions, passion, pleasure, creativity, fluidity and sexuality.
When the water element is balanced, we are able to connect easily with others, feel content and calm, let things go, be open to joy and pleasure, and express creativity.
An unbalanced water element may leas us to feel emotionally unstable, dehydrated, low libido, tense and stuck.
To balance our water element in our Yoga practice, we will focus on:
-Deepening our stretches.
-Including poses that target our pelvis
-Releasing tension and unprocessed emotions.
-Bringing flow in the practice
Cobra’s, low lunges and classic sun salutations will be part of the Yoga sequence tonight.
