Knee Health

With the weather getting warmer and the flowers bravely stretching their beautiful cores out of the earth, I would like to address our KNEE HEALTH.

It will help us much with gardening, hiking and bike rides.

The knee is a Hinge Joint, with three compartments: 1. The Patella or the “Kneecap”. 2. The groove on the front of the Femur, through which the Patella slides. 3. The Tibiofemoral articulations. ( How the Tibia and Femur bones connect. )

The knee joint mainly allows for flexion and extension. And a very small degree of rotation.

The Menisci are structures in the inside of the knee joint that serve two functions: -To increase stability of the joint. -To act as shock absorbers. In class, today, we will protect and strengthen the knee by focusing on movements and poses that work our hamstrings, quadriceps, glutes and hip muscles. We will practice squats, calf raises, hamstring curls, leg extensions and leg raises. Much love, Marielle "The next time you have a knee problem, ask yourself where you are being self-righteous, where you are refusing to bend. Drop the stubbornness and let go. Life is flow, life is movement; and to be comfortable, we must be flexible and move with it. A willow tree bends and sways and flows with the wind and is always graceful and at ease with life." YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE by Louise L. Hay.
