Breath of relief

When faced with stress or trauma, our fight and flight response kicks in.

It is completely automatic for our survival.

We call it: “The Sympathetic Nervous System”.

What does this response do?

-It elevates our blood-pressure.

-It takes blood away from the gut to the skeletal muscles.

-It tightens the Psoas and our Diaphragm.

-It tightens our neck and our shoulder muscles.

-It stimulates our Immune System.

We all recognize tightness in our body.

It takes practice to move back to a state of “rest and digest.”

In Thursday’s class we will use the healing quality of our breath.

We will relearn the natural movement of the exhale: “the sigh of relief.”

And we will work with the postural muscles to support this process.

Much love,

Marielle
