Pain in the neck

Did you ever woke up with a stiff neck? Then this class is for you.

Pain in the neck is a pain in the neck.

There is no way around it. It effects us deeply in our daily activities.

In this class we will address the STERNOCLEIDOMASTOID muscle.

It is the longest and most superficial neck muscle.

This muscle originates from the STERNUM and the CLAVICLES ( Collar Bones )

It moves diagonally to the skull, attaching right under the ears at the base.

This part of the skull is called: THE MASTOID PROCESS of the temporal bone.

Functions of the STERNOCLEIDOMASTOID muscle:

-Rotating of the head.

-Flexing the neck.

-Elevation of sternum.

-Assisting forced inhalation.

Our practice will dig deep down to the roots of neck disfunction.

Poor posture, weak arches in the feet and an uncommitted exhale.

We will also work directly with the involved muscle. Through different neck rotations all through the practice.

See you on the mat in our virtual studio!

Much love,

Marielle

From the neck up, by M Goering:

"I could spend an eternity

enjoying your loveliness

from the neck up alone.

The gentle contours of your collar bone

I would graze ever so lightly with my lips.

With kisses I would climb

to the throbbing artery in your throat."
